MINDTHEGAP LAUNCHES KITCHEN LINENS

Transylvanian design brand MINDTHEGAP adds Kitchen Linens to 'Transylvanian Roots', a collection of wallpapers, fabrics, furniture, cushions, lighting and wall art inspired by their evocative homeland. Once an independent country, for centuries, Transylvania was a melting pot of peoples, cultures and religions, from Saxons, Hungarians and Romanians to Szekely, Ashkenazi Jews, Armenians and Gypsies. Surrounded by mountains and forests, villagers were untied in their communion with nature. Poor in resources but rich in ideas and inspiration, traditional countryside homes were dressed in jubilantly embroidered textiles to soften wooden furniture and bring joy to the dark winter nights.

"It's wonderful to see our Transylvanian Roots, which is a tribute to our ancestors and to who we are today extended into the kitchen with this product range. It allows our customers to create a lifestyle, celebrating craft, adding rich, evocative patterns and authentic textures throughout their homes" says Stefan Ormenisan, Founder and Creative Director.

The Kitchen Linens collection includes four patterns with influences ranging from landscapes and nature to local crafts, and comprises of tablecloths, table runners, napkins, place mats, oven mitts and aprons, each finished with hand-crafted detailing.

THE ENCHANTED WOODLAND - This whimsical design takes us on a walk deep into the mysterious Transylvanian woods, to a time when animals wandered undisturbed and depicting a bounty of creatures lurking just out of sight. Wild horses, howling wolves, birds paused mid-flight and families of deer await in this evocative hand painted illustration woven in pure linen, chronicling the life cycle of forest flora and fauna enfolded in trailing tree branches. The table runner and napkins are edged in a deep green crochet trim, whilst the apron is adorned with a classic brass buckle.

HEIRLOOM - Float through a dreamlike meadow, blooming with the fantastical abstract flowers, wandering vines, and pleasing moments of symmetry. A cacophony of abstract shapes, soft geometry, illustrative details and folk-inspired flourishes, the HEIRLOOM pattern comes from deep within the historic traditions and craft techniques of Transylvanian heritage. Each piece is printed on pure linen with the table runner and napkins finished with a dark red scallop crocheted trim, whilst the tea towels neatly incorporate a textile hanger.

TWILL STRIPE GREEN - An ode to kitchens of days gone by, the simple linear pattern of TWILL STRIPE GREEN conjures images of well stoked fires, bubbling pots, freshly baked bread and spindle-backed chairs. Celebrating age old craft and the timelessness of simple, well-loved patterns, the tactile pure linen invites wandering hands to brush across it, with the table runner and napkin edged in characterful light green crochet and the napkin showcasing MINDTHEGAP's leafy woven M logo.

SZEPVIZ STRIPE - Celebrating MINDTHEGAP's Armenian roots with verdant shades of green, inspired by the historic Székely land once found deep in the heart of Romania. The traditional SZEPVIZ STRIPE is a classic green bandeau stripe modernised with shots of white; the natural tones tell stories of intoxicating valleys, rolling hills and bourgeoning forests. Artfully woven from pure linen, the apron is completed with sturdy leather elements secured with brass rivets and a buckle with statement embroidery of the decorative M, whilst the potholder and oven mitt are finished with a discreet leather hanger.

"Surrounded by the captivating mountains and forests of Transylvania, our ancestors were poor in resources but rich in inspiration. Traditional country homes were always dressed jubilantly in embroidered textiles to soften wooden furniture, whilst lighting was rich in decoration and adornment with patterned fabrics and tassel fringes used to brighten the dark winter nights. Times may have changed, but for me, decorative lighting is key to bringing warmth and an enchanting glow to the interior. Continuing the celebration of its fifth anniversary, Transylvania based lifestyle brand, MINDTHEGAP launches its second collection of 2021. Inspired by the sea washed shores of the Mediterranean, the Sundance Villa collection captures the vibrant and colourful coastal ambiance of the Mediterranean, encapsulating the chic and rustic mood of this inspiring region. "I've always been fascinated by the sea. For me, it represents the ultimate feeling of freedom. It is where my wandering spirit can flow freely, and I can immerse myself in the inspiration that fills my soul. I took my time creating this lifestyle collection, as all the patterns evoke a cherished memory or a wistful dream. The birthplace of our newest collection is the remote Samothraki island. As I stood before the ruins of the Sanctuary of the Great Gods, I envisioned the mysterious ceremonies that took place there for centuries.

The Transylvanian Manor is a love letter to our mystical homeland, paying homage to Transylvania’s romantic heritage and history. Telling the story of sixteenth century Hungarian nobility living in Bethlen Castle, the collection reimagines the legends and tales whispered along the castle’s walls and corridors.

Classical royal motifs and rich ornamentation evoke the family’s grandly exuberant lifestyle, while painterly landscapes recreate the abundant Renaissance-style gardens, picturesque forests and mountains surrounding the ancient home, where voluptuous flowers bloom, exotic birds swoop and wild animals wander undisturbed.

Eclectic and extravagant, The Transylvanian Manor follows the Bethlen’s noble family on their travels, taking in cornerstones in European nobility’s Grand Tours - yet it is the history and heritage of Transylvania and the timeless decadence of Bethlen Castle and its former noble residents which prevail throughout the endlessly intricate designs.

The Home of an Eccentric Man is the story of a gentleman traveller, wanderer and aesthete with a lifelong passion for ethnography, anthropology and archaeology. An explorer and collector voyaging from Zanzibar to Medina and from Jaipur to the North American prairies, his endless fascination with long-lost cultures, ancestral rituals and indigenous peoples is matched only by his insatiable desire to accumulate art and artefacts from the countries and peoples with which he is so entranced.

The Home of an Eccentric Man is a dusty yet distinguished apartment filled with one-of-a-kind furniture, curiosities, ancient books and etchings, brought together by MINDTHEGAP in a magnificently eclectic home décor collection.

A tribute to the cultural evolution and heritage of mankind, the evocative collection showcases ancient wonders of the world, lost tribes, and faraway nations, from Tibetan murals to Roman marbles. Designed to transport, each pattern relates to a specific place or moment in history. Bohemian and diverse, fifteen new wallpapers combine the impact of a mural with traditional wallpaper repeats, while eight smooth-to-the-touch stone washed linens pay homage to global textiles, from African mud cloth to Navajo weaving.

The book is the result of three years of work in which we achieved to launch 5 wallpaper collections with hundreds of unique statement designs. After this amazing journey, we thought it's time to sat down our thoughts and to put all the experience in one special book. Made of collections, Wallpaper Collectables is a large format hardback book with over 250 pages and more than 150 curated photos and illustrations showing unique ideas and tips about how to use MINDTHEGAP wallpapers.

For our first Bohemian story we prepared some authentic whimsy patterns with a dash of floral motifs and moody colours ready to cheer you up. Then we go a bit modern with brilliant Manhattan architecture's inspired story, the Art of Abstract with large bold patterns and nevertheless the Nouvelle Pop collection with its daring and unconventional designs. Last but not the least, we bring you a new style tropical story called Palm Springs with gorgeous tropical elements and rich colour palette inspired from the sunny land of California.

"We were inspired by everything in Manhattan. The richness of its architectural details along with the spectacular Art Deco elements to be found in most of the buildings of Manhattan gave us the creative impulse to design a new style collection. We started to search for inspiring elements that haven`t been used yet and our mind took us to the most iconic neighborhoods, buildings and hotels of Manhattan. And if you are trying to find similar elements, you will discover that marble is very important in the American architecture along with brass and copper, two metallic alloys used very often in the famous hotels of New York", says Stefan ORMENISAN, head of design at MINDTHEGAP.

MINDTHEGAP is delighted to announce a new collection launching this September. Inspired by the unique architectural diversity and cultural heritage of Manhattan, NYC, this premium designs are made to celebrate the luxurious and distinctive combination of marble and different metallic elements such as brass and copper. We created a collection of 19 designs combining different marble types and colours with strong details. Then we added something more precious with a touch of industrial style and New York's Golden Age. We used geometrical patterns in golden brass and copper to enhance the wallpaper and design contemporary statement patterns with a touch of luxury and elegance. To achieve a high end glamour finish with realistic look of the marble, we printed everything using metallic inks and metallic foils.
