Job Overview:
MINDTHEGAP is looking for a professional textile designer who can blend artistic and production techniques to create beautiful and original patterns for wallpapers and others fabric products to meet market, functionality and brand demands.
This role requires a creative mind that loves to research market and fashion trends and is willing to collaborate with other professional designers in creating new designs for the brand.
Requirements: Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Design / Fashion Design /Graphic Design / Fine Arts or related disciplines
- A strong portfolio of sketches, samples of prints, and other materials
- Professional experience, preferably with a fashion/interior design/textile company or creative agency is considered a plus
- Solid working skills with various design software and technologies: Photoshop, Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, and more
- Artistic, creative personality, and able to draw both by hand and by using software
- Good understanding of the properties of different materials and dyes and the production process of textiles
- Able to understand and respect a moodboard when creating designs
- A keen eye for color, texture, pattern, aesthetics and details
- Fluency in English is mandatory
- Ability to communicate effectively with various team members
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and to manage multiple tasks
- Able to give and receive constructive feedback
- Have knowledge of the market and be able to predict new trends in textiles
- Experience and knowledge about traditional textile techniques (shibori, batik, ikat, block print, etc.)
Responsabilities:
- Produce sketches, designs and samples for presentations to design and management team
- Work closely with Creative Director, production, and design staff to plan and develop designs based on moodboards, collections
- Research upon the theme of the new collections
- Accurately interpret and represent in own designs the essence of each collection
- Assess and approve completed items and production standards
- Collaborate closely with colleagues as part of a small design team
- Use of specialist software and computer-aided design (CAD) programs to develop a range of designs
- Experiment with colors, fabrics and textures
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new design and production techniques and textile technology
- Propose and develop new design concepts
- Ensure that projects are completed on time
- Source fabrics and other materials at trade fairs, markets and antique shops
- Attend trade shows, as a delegate or as an exhibitor - this may involve representing the company with a display or stand, or appraising the work of competitors
- Keep up to date and spot fashion trends in fabric design by reading forecasts in trade magazines
